Congratulations to the 4 new board members elected at our 2024 Annual General Meeting – Angelina Inthavong (ACT), Le Smith (NT) Daile Kelleher (Qld) and Margherita Coppolino (Vic).
These new board members bring a range of skills, expertise and new perspectives to the board and the wider work of the Alliance. It’s great to see the Alliance board continues to have representatives from every state and territory.
We welcome Angelina Inthavong from the Australian Capital Territory to the board.
Angelina Inthavong is a passionate youth and health equity activist with lived experience as a queer woman of colour from a low socioeconomic background.
She serves on Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT’s Board, the International Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Consortium, and leads the campaign for universal access to contraception with Sexual Health Advocates for Reproductive Equity.
We welcome Le Smith from the Northern Territory to the board
Le Smith is a senior health executive with qualifications in Health Sciences, International Health and Governance. Le has over 28 years of experience specializing in health management and delivery, cross-cultural care and health commissioning. Passionate about health equity, social justice, and human rights, she has dedicated her career to reducing disparities and improving health outcomes through person-centred, population and system level approaches.
An Honorary Research Fellow at Menzies School of Health Research and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Flinders University, Le brings academic and practical expertise to her work. She has held a range of non-executive board roles and been a contributor to numerous National and NT strategic health committees. With 19 years of experience in the Northern Territory, she is a strong advocate for its communities, people, and cultures.
We welcome Daile Kelleher from Queensland to the board
Daile Kelleher (she/her) is a not-for-profit executive leader with expertise in sexual and reproductive health policy and advocacy as well as domestic and family violence. Daile is the CEO of Family Planning Alliance Australia working nationally to uphold, strengthen and advance sexual and reproductive health and rights. She was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2023 to investigate abortion advocacy models to increase access to abortion in Australia. She is passionate about access to intersectional and culturally safe and responsive healthcare services close to people’s local communities and listening to people with lived experience about their needs. In 2024 Daile was appointed as a Board Director for the Gold Coast Health and Hospital Board for 4 years. Daile is a non executive Director and Company Secretary for the Australian Breastfeeding Association and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Community Directors.
We welcome Margherita Coppolino from Victoria to the board
Margherita Coppolino is a proud feminist living with a disability, lesbian, and first generation Australian born to a Sicilian mother. She is a photographer and Inclusion/Intersectionality consultant and advisor to government, business and social justice organisations. Margherita has a proven ability to inspire and influence a wide range of stakeholders on disability and inclusion issues. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is currently Co-Chair International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA) Oceania Region and Board Member of ILGA World, Co-Chair of Inclusive Rainbow Voices and Deputy President of Drummond Street/Queerspace Services.
In addition to our new members, we’re happy to confirm that Denele Crozier, New South Wales, Angela Brown, South Australia, Holly Brennan, Queensland, Eva Perroni, Western Australia, and Jo Flanagan, Tasmania, were re-elected to their positions.
