We all deserve to access care that is inclusive, welcoming and appropriate for our needs.

Our new national statement outlines why it is important for health services to display symbols of inclusion, such as the Aboriginal flag, Torres Strait Islander flag and rainbow and intersex flags and how this action demonstrates a commitment to health equity.

Displaying flags of inclusion is one of many practical actions health care providers and organisations can implement to ensure they are providing a culturally safe, inclusive and equitable service.

In the lead up to NAIDOC Week 2025 (6-13 July), it’s important to reflect and act on how health and social care settings can be more culturally safe, appropriate accessible and affordable for everyone, including First Nations communities.

Please use our statement to influence health and social care settings, support your community and strengthen your advocacy for culturally responsive and equitable health system.
