Alliance CEO Sandra Creamer participates in national consultation on pregnancy and family responsibilities discrimination

Australian Women’s Health Alliance CEO Sandra Creamer AM recently participated in the Australian Human Rights Commission’s consultation on pregnancy and family responsibilities discrimination at work.

The consultation has culminated in the release of the Commission’s final report, Balancing Act: Supporting Working Parents and Carers, which examines the experiences of parents and carers and the ongoing discrimination they face in Australian workplaces.

Sandra’s participation brought the perspectives of women’s health and advocacy to this important national conversation, highlighting the need for workplaces that support women throughout pregnancy, parenthood and caring responsibilities.

The findings of the report are particularly significant in the context of ongoing efforts to address workplace inequality and ensure that pregnancy, parenting and caring responsibilities do not become barriers to women’s participation and progression at work.

The report was also featured on ABC’s Four Corners, in an episode examining pregnancy discrimination and the experiences of women in the workplace.

Sandra will continue to be involved in this important conversation, by participating in a panel discussion hosted by the Australian Human Rights Commission on Monday, 9 November 2026.

The Australian Women’s Health Alliance welcomes the release of Balancing Act and its focus on addressing discrimination and creating workplaces that better support working parents and carers.
