Dr Samara McNeil is an Aboriginal medical doctor with ancestral ties to the Nukunu people, she was raised on Dharawal country where her family have lived for many generations. Samara is currently located in Rubibi (Broome) where she is completing her training as a general practitioner with the Australia College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

She has just finished sub-specialty training in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Women’s Health. Samara is Chair of Violence Prevention Australia, a non-for-profit which focuses on the development and distribution of resources for primary prevention of all forms of violence, including domestic and intimate partner violence.

Samara is also passionate about improving access to abortion care as well as increasing numbers of Indigenous women birthing on country.
