Jana (pronounced “Ya-na”) Ventura (she/her) is a Filipina-Australian woman living in Meanjin/Brisbane. Jana currently works as a Research Officer at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University and is a Policy Advisor for the Australian Women’s Health Alliance. 

With a professional background in public health, qualitative research and policy and advocacy, Jana is passionate about achieving positive systems change by working with and for priority populations including women, young people and multicultural communities.

She has worked on a range of research projects but is particularly interested in advancing women’s health, improving health literacy (including sexual and reproductive health literacy) with people from migrant and/or refugee backgrounds, and strengthening health equity, access to care and overall health outcomes. 

She also serves on the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland’s Multicultural Community Health Advisory Committee.
