Kate Whelan is an international development practitioner and strategic advisor with a particular passion for global health, gender equity, and social inclusion initiatives. With a Master’s degree in Health and International Development from Flinders University, she has contributed to gender, health, and international development assistance programs in multiple countries, including sexual and reproductive health services in Samoa and Kenya, remediation programs for violence against women in Papua New Guinea, and research on cultural safety in Child and Youth Health Nursing in South Australia.
Currently Manager of Strategic Projects (International) at the University of Queensland (UQ), Kate has worked in a variety of roles spanning business development and strategy, program implementation and evaluation, casework for refugee families, policy advisory, digital strategy, and research across not-for-profit, private, and academic sectors.
