We’re excited to launch a new policy brief focused on the importance of high-quality research and evidence in boosting gender equity in Australia’s health care system.

Strengthening Gender Equity Through Research and Evidence argues that better research, evidence and data are required to understand the significant health inequities faced by priority populations of women.

2023: That’s a Wrap!

2023 was a very productive year here at the Australian Women’s Health Alliance as we continued our work toward achieving gender equity in health for all women.

Beyond Violence: Broadening the Horizons of Women’s Health

Women’s health policy in Australia has had a tumultuous journey. 

It has been only 60 years since all women have had the right to vote in Federal Government elections. It’s been 14 years since the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Health Strategy was published, without implementation funds. 

Supporting Women’s Health and Wellbeing Through Gender-Based Violence Prevention

Alina Thomas has been fighting for systemic improvements in women’s rights since her university days. In an immersive degree that enabled her to explore the intersection between social issues, political issues, reproductive issues and gender, Alina says she found her early motivation to start, advocating for change, a motivation which still burns brightly today.
